Cold Process Soap Making for Beginners

Service Description

Ditch the shop bought soap and learn to make your own hand crafted soap made with ingredients which nourish your skin, is good for the environment and is fun to make. ​You will learn to make cold process soap using natural oils and scented with essential oils. The class will teach the cold process soap method, lye safety techniques, recipe creation and using a soap calculator, which tools and equipment you need to continue making soap and how to de-mould and cut your soap at home. At the end of the workshop you get to take home a one kilo bar of soap which you have made including the mould. ​This workshop is suitable for  beginners with no prior experience necessary. Because of the use of Lye, we do not recommend this class for pregnant woman or children under the age of 16 years. ​You will be taking your soap home with you, it is a good idea to bring a towel to wrap it in and a bag to carry it home - you'll need to keep your loaf warm for 24 hours. ​Safety note: Lye is an incredibly strong chemical that requires extreme caution. Because of this, we recommend wearing a long-sleeved shirt, pants and enclosed shoes. Please don't worry we will teach you how to handle it safely so you won't have any issues. We supply gloves, protective eyewear and masks.
